YIFAD COVID-19 STAY-AT-HOME SUPPORT PROJECT

Youth Initiative for Africa Development (YIFAD) is currently mobilising resources to support the vulnerable population in the slum areas and on the streets of Greater Accra and Kumasi during this lockdown period to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of our efforts to contribute to the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme, we want to purchase food supplies, groceries, and other basic needs (i.e. nose masks, gloves, soap, hand sanitizers, etc) for distribution to the vulnerable people within the vulnerable population in our communities.

As the COVID-19 pandemic sweeps through Africa, it can be noted that the impact to human life, businesses and economy will be quite dire and profound, due to the differences in demographics and infrastructural needs of the continent, hence, YIFAD’s quick response to alleviate the pains this will have on African families.

The World Bank and WHO projects dire consequences for economies globally but most severe for Africa. With Jack Ma, leading in the provision of medical supplies, it also beholds on us as our humanitarian efforts to help the poor and needy.

Proposed Budget

We at YIFAD, are seeking to raise an amount of GHC200,000 (US$35,525) to purchase the following items for distribution to a target of 1,000 homes in Accra and Kumasi during this lockdown:

1. Bags of 25kg rice
2. Cooking oil
3. Tins of tomato paste
4. Sanitary pads for our young girls
5. First Aid kits
6. Nose masks
7. Hand sanitizers, soap and detergents
8. Gari, sugar, oats and milo
